People have dreams and like to achieve them, even they are desirable or not. Sometimes people dedicate their whole life for one goal and work hard to achieve it. Anyhow, what if someone has a plan to dedicate the entire life to fulfill one dream.
Alyssa Carson is the youngest person to graduate from the Advanced Space Academy who is willing to go to mars as an astronaut. She possibly will be the first human to set foot on Mars, in the situation where her return back to earth is unsure.
Going to mars has been her childhood dream. “Technically, I’m allowed to fly into space and just being able to say that, especially in my teens, feels amazing,” Carson said.
Meet Alyssa Carson, a 19-year-old girl from Baton Rouge, Louisiana
There are fewer things we know about Mars and more things to discover. So Carson’s mission Mars will involve searching for lifeforms, understanding the surface and the planet’s evolution, and preparing for potential future human colonization.
Despite her young age, she is training to become an astronaut
Bravery Carson elaborated as, “The radiation levels in space don’t scare me because I’ve learned about it for so long and it’s just become a norm at this point. There’s always a sense of fear that something could go wrong since no mission to space has ever been 100 percent safe. But I definitely believe that a mission to Mars, and all the benefits we can get from it, outweigh any of the risks.”
She aims to be part of the first human mission to Mars
The mission is part of the effort to establish a human colony on Mars, that could one day save our species
Other than becoming the first human to visit Mars, she believes that her story may be an inspiration to other girls who follows their dreams. Let’s wish for this girl who dedicates her life for such kind of exploration and definitely it will be a new chapter of humankind.
Alyssa first thought of going to Mars when she was 3, after seeing the TV show “The Backyardigans”
Ever since then Carson has been working hard to achieve her goals
In 2008, Bert Carson, her father, enrolled her in the United States Space Camp
She quickly became the first person to visit all three NASA Space Camps
Five years later, Alyssa was the first person to complete the NASA Passport Program by going to all 14 NASA Visitor Centers
Carson is also the youngest person to be accepted and graduate the Advanced Possum Academy
Alyssa also studies all her school subjects in 4 languages
While not being able to apply to be an astronaut until she turns 18, Carson is the youngest applicant to International Space University
“The biggest [challenge] is time and getting everything done at such a young age” said Alyssa
Alyssa started “Blueberry Foundation”, named after her call sign Blueberry
That’s aiming to encourage kids to seek their dreams and give opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have
“Always follow your dream and don’t let anyone take it from you,” Alyssa says
