Photography is a frame to express feelings, and wild photography is one category that depends on the photographer’s skill. Shaaz Jung is an Indian wildlife photographer and filmmaker who was able to capture a black beauty in the jungle.
Despite learning economics at Utrecht University in Europe, he chooses the field of photography. By proving that he made the right decision, an elusive black panther was spotted in the lenses in Kabini Forest in Karnataka, India.
“I spent two and a half years in the Kabini Forest, between December 2017 and January 2020, on a filming permit, this filming permit allowed [me and the team] to make a documentary on the black panther for National Geographic,” Jung said.
“This black panther is a leopard with an abundance of melanin. Unlike other cats in the Kabini Forest, there is only one black panther, and that makes him far more difficult to photograph. However, since 2015 photographers have been fortunate enough to see him and take pictures. We are, however, the first to make a dedicated movie on him.” Jung explained his experience further.
After viewing the taken photos, you may think about how hard it was to capture this black master. Surely, his hard work will be paid off soon.
