After realizing there’s a shortage of masks suitable for deaf and hard of hearing this woman starts making them herself
With the sound knowledge of deaf education at Eastern Kentucky University Ashley come up with this brilliant idea since she realized that there is an inadequate supply of masks appropriate for deaf people.
“I just saw that people were making masks on Facebook for everyone to have instead of the throwaway masks, and I was like, what about the deaf and hard of hearing population?” she told Lex 18.
With the help of the mother, she was able to sew masks with the feature of a hole but covered with plastic where it shows the mouth of the wearing person. Since the lip is crucial for sign language this innovation is gone viral. After posted this on Facebook she realized that there is a high demand for this kind of mask in the USA. So she is sawing these masks as much as possible and sent them for necessary people in free of charge. And if the demand rises she is planning for tutorials and the free patterns where people can make their own.
Let’s appreciate her work by sharing this article.
