Birthday is one special day for everyone. When someone reaches the age limit, which goes beyond the ordinary life expectancy, it’s a miracle. “August” is a Golden Retriever dog that lives in Oakland. She has been the oldest living golden retriever as per the Gold Heart Golden Retrievers Rescue.
She celebrated her 20th birthday, which is not a usual celebration by a dog. On April 24, 2000, she was born, and two families had adopted her before the forever home in Oakland founded. Steve and Jennifer took her at the age of fourteen, which shows them that she was old. But despite the age, they adopted August, without knowing that she will be the oldest Golden Retriever.
Meet August, the Golden Retriever who has recently turned 20 years old
Augie, as she’s often affectionately called, became the oldest living Golden Retriever known to date
A carrot cake made for this special celebration, and her doggie siblings Sherman, Belle, and Bruce, were joined. As per Jennifer, she is super healthy, and having miner problems in walking in the first gets up. At the age of fourteen, a kidney problem was diagnosed, but it mitigated with proper treatments.
People found out about her when GoldHeart Golden Retrievers Rescue shared a congratulatory Facebook post, which soon went viral

This is quite impressive considering that Golden Retrievers typically live just 10 to 12 years
“There are many accounts of 17 or 18-year-old goldens, and even a few stories about 19-year-old goldens, but Augie is the first golden retriever to ever reach the big two-oh,” explained Gold Heart Golden Retrievers Rescue in an article dedicated to August.

There are many accounts of 17, 18 and even 19-year-old Golden Retrievers, but never about a 20-year-old one
Let’s also wish for the Augie a long and healthy life..!!
